River Dane Holiday Park is the preferred choice for those looking for something that little bit special. The first thing you will notice about Daneside upon your approach from the A54 Congleton Road is that to your left there is a first class equestrian centre and on your right is open countryside.
You will then see a small sign indicating that you have just passed the park! The reason for this is, if you turn left before the sign, it appears to be a road into a large stately home or manor as there is a gatehouse on your left; in fact this is a long road leading down to River Dane Holiday Park.
You will notice within the first 30 seconds of entering that you can see nothing but open countryside as this is in fact a site of special scientific interest, which means it’s a protected site that looks magnificent.
The park itself is a tranquil oasis built to very high standards with all owners having the benefit of a free private fishing lake on park, well stocked with a variety of freshwater fish; Carp, Bream, Perch, Roach, Chub, Grayling and Gudgeon. Being located beside the river Dane in the village of Somerford, our greatest attraction is that not only are we a quiet park but also the area surrounding us is beautiful.
Add to this the fact that you are no distance from Congleton, Stoke on Trent, or even Alderley Edge & Knutsford this really is the ideal retreat for those looking for that perfect location surrounded by countryside. You can enjoy a year round spectacle of wildlife and an amazing night sky.
Walks around the park lead you through an array of wildflowers taking you past paddocks where our flock of sheep graze. The River Dane and an oxbow lake provide good fishing for all the family.
Having previously been awarded for three years in a row a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award, we still actively continue to create hedgerows and plant shrubs and trees to attract more wildlife into the park.
Locally there is a lot to do from the local walks to the adjacent equestrian centre, shopping, many great restaurants and lots of places of interest to visit.
For example why not visit Jodrell Bank, the worlds largest moveable telescope, Little Moreton Hall the most outstanding timber framed house in Britain, or Capesthorne Hall a Jacobean style house of the 18th century set in 100 acres of parkland.
