Located in the picturesque village of Scarisbrick, Shaw Hall Holiday Park offers a plethora of activities whether you are visiting as a whole family or for a romantic weekend away for two. With the gorgeous seaside resort of Southport being a mere 15 minutes’ drive away, how could you run out of things to do?

The Legh Arms

A holiday at Shaw Hall Holiday Park is the ideal place to relax and cook in your well-equipped home, but every so often it can be nice to have a treat and let someone else do the cooking. Just a short walk from your holiday home sits a privately-owned country pub that provides mouth-watering home cooked meals with locally brewed beer or a nice glass of wine. The Legh Arms caters to a range of dietary requirements, so whether you’re vegetarian or have an intolerance to gluten, there’s something for everyone.

Windmill Animal Farm

Holidaying with children? No problem, we know the perfect place to keep those little ones entertained! Windmill Animal Farm offers visitors the chance to experience the everyday life of running a farm while still having the opportunity to watch, feed and pet the animals. If your favourite farm animal is too busy with other visitors, the farm boasts three spectacular children’s play areas so there will never be a dull moment. On top of these play areas, youngsters can have fun with the miniature railway, pedal tractors or even the roller racers. There are a large number of great facilities for both parents and children, including baby changing and a highly-rated coffee shop. Windmill Animal Farm is only a 15 minute drive from Shaw Hall, with a large car park and disabled access for the less able.

Botanic Gardens

Just under a 20 minute drive north of the static caravan park is Southport’s Botanic Gardens. Originally opened in the 19th century, these Victorian gardens are the perfect place to take a morning stroll and settle down for a picnic lunch with plenty of space to allow children to run around in the sun. Any animal lover will thoroughly enjoy the animal corner; the gardens are home to peacocks and parrots, as well as guinea pigs and rabbits for everyone to interact with. If you want to relax, you can take a seat in the café and enjoy some homemade food and snacks or even hit the crazy golf course.

Model Railway Village

Southport Model Railway Village has attracted hundreds of thousands of families from all over the world since its opening in 1996. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a model train enthusiast, you will still enjoy the fabulous views of the country scene, village and town while following the many model trains as they lead you around the beautiful landscape. Parents and grandparents can relax in peace and tranquillity while keeping an eye on the children in the safe, secure environment. It really is the perfect place to relax for a family day out.

Southport Pier

Taking a relaxing holiday in one of our homes at the best caravan park in Southport gives you the perfect opportunity to breathe some fresh sea air into your lungs with the pier being just a short drive away. Learn the history of Southport by visiting Dr Tom Preston’s exhibition to understand how the town grew from nothing to the thriving town it is today. Walk along to the end of the pier and take in the spectacular views of the North West coast. If you are looking for more of a nostalgic feel, the amusements are the best part of pier. Go crazy on the penny slot machines or race everyone around on the Golden Gallopers carousel on the pier forecourt. Southport pier offers a wonderful day trip before you go back to put your feet up.
